Marketing Concepts

Posted by jellie7r on April 12, 2007

Many engineers do not comprehend the importance of marketing in their line of work. All products designed or even research done ultimately will be used in the industry if any significance is to be achieved. Marketing plays an important role as it focus on the value of a product designed by the engineer to the customer/ client.

Marketing is the study of exchange and the facilitation of exchange between two or more parties. The role of marketing is to “facilitate the achievement of the organization’s objectives” (Gabbott, 2004 p.4)

It does this by:

Building and managing the connection between the market and the organization

-> Understanding customers and stakeholders needs and wants

->Creating dialogue with customers and other stakeholders
